About Artist
drawingmary (b. 1984, Seoul) explores the profound connection between personal experience and creative expression. The illustrator embraces the concept of “painting joy,” capturing moments of cheerful liveliness that reflect the spirit of “Mary.” Through her work, she invites viewers to connect with the vibrant energy and joyful memories embodied by the figures on her canvas.
A prominent presence in her artwork is “Day”, a fluffy white dog and loyal companion to Mary. Day entered Mary’s life unexpectedly, providing companionship during the early stages of her artistic journey when she often found joy in solitude. Each piece by drawingmary serves as a testament to their pure friendship, a bond that promises many more years of shared joy.
drawingmary holds a bachelor's degree in Animation from Hansung University in Seoul. Her work has been extensively exhibited throughout Korea, including Daegu Shinsegae Gallery (2025), Gwangju Sinsegae Gallery (2024), The Hyndai Seoul (2024), Lotte Gallery (2023), Gallery by the Harbour (2020) and more. She has collaborated with well-known brands such as Casetify (2023), Laneige (2020), and Primera (2018), in addition to creating cover art for various publications. Notably, she published the 'Merry' series, Korea’s first acrylic coloring book. drawingmary currently resides in Seoul.
