We are pleased to present an exclusive multidisciplinary pop-up shopw / exhibition at 54 Sai Street, Sheungwan. Rooted in Artnnect’s vision to fostering dynamic intersections across creative elements, this special presentation brings together contemporary fashion and fine art within a unified spatial narrative.
At the hart of this collaboration is a profound curatorial synergy between The Surian’s design philosophy and artist Elsa Ngai artistic practice. The Surian’s new collection explores the gorgeous low golden tones of transition- where architectural structure effortlessly meets ease and tailoring. This narrative finds a natural counterpart in Elsa Ngai’s works, whose classical sensibilities and mineral- layered dreamscapes utlize traditional pigments to eveoke quiet emotion, depth, and resonance.
By pairing the organic mineral textures of Ngai’s canvases with The Surian’s fluit silhouettes, the exhibition creates a seamless visual dialogue where fashion and form beautifully resonate. We invite you to experience this thoughtfully curated pop-up in the heart of the city - a temporary sanctuary where textures, tone, and contemporary craftsmanship converge.
About Artist
Elsa received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2024.
Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese art and philosophy. By employing the layering and polishing properties of natural mineral pigments, she creates pictorial spaces that are at times hazy and dreamlike, and at others absurd and fantastical. She frequently uses natural imagery to reflect her observations of social and everyday events. Her works posses a delicate classical sensibility while simultaneously conveying subtle contradictions and a sense of rebelloion. Through painting, she seeks to explore the gray zones beyond binary oppositions - the ineffable, silent spaces where language falls short.
Her works have been collected by St. Regis Hong Kong, Starbucks (HKPM), and private collectors. She has received awards including the Hart Award, the Friends of the Art Museum Award, the Madam Jan Yun-bor Memorial Chinese Painting and Caloigraphy Award, and the CUHK 60th Anniversary Artistic Talent Development Scholarship.
